Winter Group Rates

Discounted rates are available for groups of at least 10 paid skiers, snowboarders and/or tubers. Group reservations should be made at least 2 weeks in advance to ensure lesson placement. For group reservations call 605.367.7317 or email

Lift Ticket and Equipment Rental (ski or snowboard)

Full Day (arrive before 3 pm)

Half Day (arrive after 3 pm)

  • Group Tubing Combo: To include tubing, there will be an additional $5 charge per person Tuesday through Friday (starting at 3 pm) and $8 on the Weekends & School Holidays.
  • Helmet rentals are available for $9 per person. Helmets are recommended, but not required.
  • Group Lessons: One-hour beginner ski or snowboard group lessons are an additional $4 per person, which must be arranged when the reservation is made. A group must have at least 5 paid participants in the lesson to get this rate and everyone must be at least 7 years old. Lessons with less than 5 participants will be charged the appropriate rates. We are unable to combine skiing and snowboarding in the same lesson.
  • Children ages 5 and under ski/ride free with a paid adult (includes lift ticket and rental equipment)

Weekends & School Holidays

Morning Session (9 am – 12 pm)

Afternoon Session (12 pm – 5 pm)

Evening Session (5 pm – 9 pm)

$10 per tuber (save $2)

All Day (unlimited)

$19 per tuber (save $1)


  • Not valid with any other coupon, discount or Tubing Tuesday rate
  • The tubing hill is not open on Mondays unless it is a School Holiday
  • Great Bear Ski Valley recommends that for safety reasons, pregnant women and children aged 4 and under or under 42 inches tall do not tube. All tubers must purchase a tube ticket and only one person is allowed per tube.
  • The use of helmets is also recommended, but not required. Rental helmets are available for $9 at Guest Services. 

Tubing Birthday Parties


To get the group rates, we ask that one person pay for the entire group at the beginning of your visit and distribute the tickets. Please have the number of lift tickets, rentals, helmets, tubing tickets & lessons needed tallied in advance. 


No outside food or beverages are allowed in the chalet. Thank you for your cooperation.

Our downhill and cross country ski rentals are industry-leading Rossingnol products. We also offer snowboard and adaptive ski equipment at affordable rates. Combined with an affordable season pass for your favorite area or an all-area pass, you never have to miss a second of the excitement this winter. Great hiking. Greener than green. The trails were a bit muddy. We opted to stay on the more traveled roads. It was enjoyable. Heads up! Mosquitoes are treacherous. Bug spray did very little. They were less aggressive when I started explaining my political views.

I haven't skied here since I was a teenager. For the area, it's a great way to spend the day on Christmas break. I recently discovered all the trails in the area. I've lived in Sioux Falls most of my life and I've been here more this summer than I have any winter! Bring your bug spray, the gnats and mosquitoes are ferocious deep in the woods.

I bring my poodle here to hike frequently! It's fifteen minutes from my house. It's probably the nicest place to hike for a couple of hours that's not an hour's drive away. There are a nice assortment of trails to walk on!

Had our wedding reception at Great Bear, and it was awesome!! Everything was excellent ... the food, the drinks, the decorations, ect. Jill and her team did a great job and made it very easy on us. Highly recommend this place!

One of the better kept places to hike. Doesn't stink half as bad as MOST trails is Sioux Falls.
